Our partnership with ZOTUP was among the very first international partnerships that we established. The Italian family company has been focused on the development of solutions for surge protection since 1986 and our partnership began in 1998.

In 2003, Hakel Russia and our joint venture was born. And it has been growing ever since. After Mr Kadukov met with Hakel representatives, things took a quick turn and he began building the Hakel brand in Russia and neighbouring countries almost immediately.

“We were looking for a partner that could represent the peculiarities of both the Russian market and the mentality of the Russian people,” explains Mr Kadukov.

Today, Hakel Russia serves mostly the markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States, being in high demand by installers themselves and dominating the majority of them. It is capable of its own production and development. Thus, it doesn’t have to rely solely on our factories and deliveries while benefiting from our expertise and our innovations.

When we asked the managing director, Mr Barnes Abeywardena, how he knew that Hakel surge protection would be a good choice for his company, he answered “I knew Jaroslav’s old company Škoda, so I knew there were good products from the Czech Republic!”

This little joke about our export manager Jaroslav Škoda’s surname (and its relation to the well-known Czech car brand) speaks a lot about the kind of relationship we have built through the years – friendly, open and trusting.
